First Snow

It seems like we have set record temperatures this winter.  If not, it has been real close, literally.  That's not just for the Chattanooga area but most of the United States.  This winter the nation has been touched by Mr. Frost himself, but meteorologist like to call it a Polar Vortex.  Either way, it's been FREEZING and finally, FINALLY brought us some snow.
The snow brought complete havoc upon the area making travel time from one area to the next ridiculously long or impossible.  I was talking with my mother-in-law and she said it took my father-in-law an hour to get from the entrance of their subdivision to their house (they live pretty darn close to the entrance).  Wrecks were everywhere, cars sliding, people driving at turtle speed and of course schools were dismissed early.  Most buses couldn't even run their routes.  It may not have been a great blizzard, but it was a snowy day the population wasn't prepared for and makes a great day of history.
Back to the important part. . .SNOW!  Our boys were so excited.  Since we have moved a little further south we haven't seen snow lay on the ground yet.  We missed it.
It was a chilling cold outside but that didn't stop them from enjoying a few good hours of fun.

This was Marshall's first real snow.  He was so excited he headed right out without much clothing resulting in a not so grand experience.  I don't think he made it pass the driveway before he was crying from being so cold.  I had to convince him to dress properly and go back out.  Second attempt much better and he had a blast.

Hyrum LOVES the snow and cold weather in general.  Whenever we tell him that Knoxville got snow but still have nothing here, he would always say he wished we lived back in Knoxville.  He was the first to head out and play and lasted the longest of anyone.  Jarom and I laugh about this and say he will live in a cold weather climate.  I guess because he doesn't have to wear sunscreen all the time!  Plus that boy, is like a little heater.  I'm not sure if that has to do with his recessive gene or not but he is by far our most warm natured and sensitive skinned child.

(They filled their little coupe up with snow and thought that was just so cool.)

The older boys were good to stay inside most of the time sipping hot chocolate and apple cider.

In the end, it's been a fun two days and makes me very grateful that we have a safe, warm roof over our heads.
