Going Under

Hyrum recently had his tonsils and adenoids removed.  This was the first time any of our kids have had to have a major surgery and be put under anesthesia.
We knew that he was going to have this done eventually.  He was a heavy snorer and we believed it was starting to affect his schoolwork and behavior.
I was probably more nervous than him.  He said he was only nervous about what it would be like afterwards.  He didn't know how bad it would hurt.  He was very brave and calm.

He wanted me to show his muscles.

Finally got the gown on and still all smiles.

Yeh, we thought we would be waiting forever!  He was getting bored but happy he was out of school.
Jarom was able to sit with us before Hyrum went back for the procedure.  I was grateful that he was there.  He is a good father.  Plus, I enjoyed having lunch with him even if it was just peanut butter and jelly.
The procedure was no longer than twenty minutes, if that!  Everything went well and his recovery would be long.

Jarom stayed with him at the hospital while I got the boys from school.  He missed a week of school fully supplied with goodies from Grandmother and his cousins.  He was spoiled!
The school PTO sent him a delivery of balloons, candy and a teddy bear.  His face was so lit up, he felt so special and keeps that bear on his bed.  His classmates all wrote him a card and we read them all.  They were all so kind and several said that they prayed for him to get better soon.  It was a sweet experience to watch him read each card and smile such a big smile.  We made his class snicker-doodle cookies as a thank you.
After two weeks of no sports, PE, playing on the playground he is finally a new kid and happy to be back.  His voice changed for a while but is now back to normal.  He doesn't snore!  We have already seen slight changes in his behavior from getting a better night's rest.  I am thankful.
