Another Year Passed
School is out for Summer!
This was a memorable school year for Liam, as he now advances to middle school. Last year of elementary. It's hard to believe.
This is our second year at Boynton and I can say it was much better than last year. We had overall good teachers and I was able to get out, meet more parents, and help at the school. It makes all the difference.
Hyrum is not a fan of school. The first week they completed a form telling about themselves. Hyrum said his favorite subject was recess. He said his least favorite subject was work.
He's apparently pretty quiet at school. He likes get there and get out. Get the work done. He is not particular in any way when it comes to writing, coloring, or cutting. He couldn't care less if it looks nice and neat, or even good! His teacher even commented once he needed to improve on his writing.
However, Mrs. Davis always commented on what a good friend Hyrum was and that he was kind. One 9 weeks she chose him to be the PRIDE student from her class. He was pretty excited and it's a major compliment.
Liam had a great year and was blessed with a great teacher. Again, another PRIDE member for the year. I can say I'm feeling pretty good as a parent.
Liam is a good student and showing to be a great leader. He is not afraid to do the things he enjoys and doesn't let peer pressure get to him. . .yet. He usually can convince others to pull one way or another. His teacher nominated him to Leadership Academy that only fifth graders could participate and only a handful are chosen from each school. He sang twice over the intercom system for the whole school. When he went to Camp Lookout he signed up to do crafts even though none of his friends did and he ended being the only boy. He didn't mind. He tried to go out for the talent show and talk his friends in to doing a dance with him (that one fell through). He's all about friends and they flock to him. He's competitive when it comes to grades and being at the top.
Report Card Earnings
Liam has a tendency to rush through his work and make simple mistakes. Him and Hyrum are alike about just getting it done. However, this was effecting Liam's grades and what eventually implemented the family GRADE/REWARD system.
We decided that we would pay the boys for their grades. Liam and Hyrum will do anything for money!

We also noticed our kids were greatly attached to technology, so we took that away except for weekends.
Liam's grades changed immediately and in the long run benefited all of the kids. Jarom makes a big presentation out of it, gathers everyone together, and makes each boy come up to the fireplace to recognize their work and gives them their earnings. Though it drained Jarom's wallet every 9 weeks, it helped the boys save, perform better in their work, and actually play!
We are very proud of his hard work in elementary school and look forward to all his accomplishments in middle school. I know he will do great!
Now that's school is out. . .
Summer wasn't filled with much excitement because it was going to consist of us moving a week after school was out.
Didn't happen. Long story. Another time.
Vacation sounds fun. . .or not. What to do?
We've been asking this question for a month now and still have done very little. I actually don't think anyone minds. Sometimes is nice to do nothing or be somewhere. Just lots of sleepovers with cousins and grandparents seems to be what they want. No complaints, yet.

Tipton is the opposite of Hyrum except he doesn't care for school much either. He likes to do his work with exactness, takes his time and likes things to be neat (for the most part). We learned he has a little anxiety and being his first year of testing he let that really weigh on him for almost a full term. Now that we know this we hope we can help him cope and work with the issue. Thankfully, he performed very well on his test.
He is a deep thinker and has great reading comprehension. He is observant. . .and maybe even a little nosey. ;)
He too was chosen as PRIDE member, by his teacher for his class (it's only two people each time from each class). It wasn't until the last 9 weeks of school. It bothered him that he had not been chosen the whole year. I remember the first 9 weeks of school the teacher had not announced who she had chosen. Tipton was counting down. She told the class the day of the assembly, when they recognize you. Tipton came home that day floored by the choices she made. He names off every negative thing he could think of for one of the people. But the teacher had recognized the other student for their consistent hard work and diligence in trying to make good grades. After reminding Tipton of the reason for choosing someone else over him, he didn't like it but he finally accepted it. He was humbled. But boy was he excited when she chose him that final time!

| This is his best friend whom he spoke openly about his beliefs with. He even gave him a Book of Mormon, but his friend's parents said he could not read it and to give it back. However, his best bud said he will be attending BYU to play football. His mother said she has accepted this. |
