Day 1 continued...

Jamestown

The beginning of the day was a little rough and boring at times and not all was suited for little Bret's age.  I won't name who, but they are your typical pre-teen child, who finds everything boring educational related. 

It got better.

Jamestown was similar to Yorktown but ten times better!  It had this museum where you walked through time, like you were really there.  There were so many cool artifacts and things we learned.  Unfortunately, you are not allowed to take pictures.

On the outside, we first took a walk through an Indian village and then toured two ships and ended at the Jamestown settlement.  It was impressive.  We spent most of our time here exploring.

I think Hyrum and Marshall could have stayed on the ships all day!  In movies they appear so large but they are really very small.  Of course, Marshall tested out these beds as well.

 

The first settlement.  There were home replicas, gunsmith, welders, a church and more.  The boys thought the pews were VERY uncomfortable!

Jamestown did not disappoint.  It was a great family place and the kids seem to have fun.  It was amazing how true they tried to keep everything to the original settlement in the 1600's.  Our first day of vacation managed to be a great success and we were ready to hit the sack.
