Trying New Things

Marshall is our adventurous one when it comes to sports. This past fall semester he decided to give wrestling a try. He has a lot of good buddies that wrestle, two whom were captains, so that probably had some influence on his decision as well.

Marshall was able to wrestle varsity in the 115 lbs wt class. This was difficult to maintain if he was off his medication--hence, weekends equaled weight gain. Sometimes he didn't always meet weight because he would eat too much over the weekend, and then couldn't wrestle. He probably should have wrestled in the weight class up, but you live and learn.

This sport was definitely a learning process of discipline, patience, and understanding the actual sport. It was a lot of hard work along with a lot of downtime between matches. Meets were long, but the matches were intense. Marshall won some and lost some. One to a girl--we don't let him forget! In his defense, she was really good.

I have lots of videos, but not any good photos. I was really proud of Marshall trying something new. He was good at the sport as a rookie. Will he wrestle next year...he says, "no." He liked it but not enough to keep doing it. Soccer is sport and he can't wait for middle school tryouts in a couple of weeks.

Regionals didn't go as planned, but they had a great time anyway!
